Harry Kapeliaris - "Journey to Light"

In the words of Athens based guitarist Harry Kapeliaris, "Greece stands at the crossroads of east and west. It provides fertile soil for fusing music". Indeed, the ten original tracks of this CD do justice to the word 'fusion'. Rather than being the excuse for mindless scale acrobatics, the main emphasis of the music here is on composition, revealing a wide range of diversity and understanding of musical styles. That is not to say of course that there is not enough guitar on this album to satisfy even the most hungry of connoisseurs.
Playing the Athens club circuit for years with his outfit 'Bluesburger' provided a firm foothold in rock and blues, while at the same time his musical personality was continually molded by exposure to the likes of Allan Holdsworth, Frank Zappa, Shawn Lane and other giants. On the CD, one may detect traces of influences seeping through the swirling harmonies but, above all, Harry is his own man. Tracks such as the bittersweet 'Friday Morning', the masterfully architectured 'Entropy' or the cinematic 'Crossroads' with its east meets west sensibilities, reveal a true and dedicated artist with a uniqueness that owes much to his Greek origins.

Κυκλοφορεί από τον ΚΑΘΡΕΦΤΗ η πρώτη δισκογραφική δουλειά του κιθαρίστα Χαραλάμπου Καπελιαρή -ΤΑΞΙΔΙ ΣΤΟ ΦΩΣ -(JOURNEY TO LIGHT) η οποία περιέχει δέκα ορχηστρικές συνθέσεις του με jazz-rock-funk διαθέσεις και επίκεντρο την κιθάρα.
Μία από τις πρώτες απόπειρες, στην Ελλάδα, ενός στυλ fusion ορχηστρικής μουσικής που έχει μεγάλη διάδoση στους κύκλους των μουσικών αλλά ελάχιστες παραγωγές έχουν δει το φως της Ελληνικής αγοράς.
Για την ολοκλήρωση του δίσκου συνεργάσθηκαν οι μουσικοί Χάρης Μπουτσελάκης στο μπάσo, ο Χρήστος Μπάσιος πλήκτρα, ο Γιώργος Καψόπουλος κιθάρα, Παναγιώτης Αργύρης μπάσσο κ.α
Ο Χ. Καπελιαρής προσεγγίζει τα μουσικά θέματα βασισμένος σε jazz αρμονίες με μία ροκ χροιά στον ήχο της κιθάρας του αλλά οι υποσυνείδητες επιρροές από το δημοτικό τραγούδι φανερώνονται συχνά μέσα στις ηχογραφήσεις. Κυκλοφορία Φεβρουάριος 2005
